JL: What is your favorite word?
DM: "Dream."

JL: What is your least favorite word?
DM: "Can't."

JL: What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

JL: What turns you off?
DM: Lack of accountability.

JL: What is your favorite curse word?
DM: Most any derivative of f#*k. I'm very partial to clusterf#*k.

JL: What sound or noise do you love?

DM: Crickets, breeze through leaves and moving water.

JL: What sound or noise do you hate?
DM: Cell phones ringing. People talking on cell phones in public places. Just about anything audible about cell phones.

JL: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

DM: Fiction writer. Science fiction, most likely.

JL: What profession would you not like to do?
DM: Coroner.

JL: If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Latest book(s) read worth recommending:
Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge. A fairly average storyline, but a fantastically insightful, visionary look at the world in 2025. A great cross-section of the near future, demonstrating the possible manifestations of pervasive Internet connectivity, hyper-terrorism, and medical breakthroughs in longevity. Provocative and believable. Good read.

Ilium and Olympos series by Dan Simmons. Even if you don't count yourself a science fiction fan, the virtues of Dan Simmons' writing transcend genre. These don't quite match the four Hyperion books in spectacle and depth of character, but they are extremely evocative and memorable, nonetheless.

Latest movie(s) seen worth recommending:
The Notebook. Makes you not want to die, particularly. Profoundly sad ending. Destroyed me for about 48 hours.

Latest tune(s) enjoyed worth recommending:
Continuum by John Mayer. My first real experience with the guy. Soulful, bluesy, honest. Not at all the cheese I was expecting. Even better when it was a loan-to-rip situation. Worth a listen.
