December dance recitals decidedly delight
December 14, 2004 -- For anyone who doesn't know, the girls have become quite the accomplished dancers. This is Sydney's third year of dance and Emelie's second at Dance Emotion in Irvine. Both of have demonstrated huge leaps in skill, spanning tap, jazz and ballet. Sydney, in fact, joined the performance squad this year -- a group of girls from different classes and ages that are particularly talented. That means she now takes dance two days a week.

December was the latest recital, with the theme being "The Magic of Season". Each class, Emelie's and Sydney's, performed magic-oriented routines. The first bit featured them in top hats and spats, while the second saw them don day-glo duds. (My dance commentary vernacular is pretty limited:)

The girls showed how far they had come -- not just this year, but since they began. Emelie is much more confident and smiley while she performs, although she is still pretty intense at showtime. Sydney just beams when she dances and exudes pure joy.

These pictures aren't the greatest...again, pre-digital. After scanning, everyone pretty much looks made of wax. But they do the trick. Enjoy.
