Syd's Tenth Birthday
February 16-17, 2008 -- Sydney hit the decade mark with friends and family with a much-anticipated sleepover. On Saturday the 16th, we took Syd and five of her friends, including Emelie, to see Spiderwick Chronicles. Upon exiting the theater, they were each interviewed by a local news crew surveying feedback on the new movie. I would love to have had a camera for that, watching them each elaborate on their favorite parts of the movie. Emelie was particularly cute. Lori and I even chimed in on the appropriateness of the film for kids. We never saw the actual aired footage, but it was the quintessential Southern California moment, I suppose.
After the movie, we all returned to the house for evening of food, PlayStation, karaoke and Hanna Montana. God help us. :) The girls camped out in the living room, finally giggling themselves to sleep about midnight.
Sunday morning brought breakfast and present opening, first with the sleepover gang and then just the family after their departure. The thought of Sydney being double digits still fills Lori and I with shock and awe, but there isn't a better ten year-old on the planet.
